LANCASTER, Ohio (October 9, 2018) — FAIRHOPE Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. selected Julie McGill as its October Employee of the Month. The employee of the month is a peer nominated award, the employees put in nominations and a name is drawn. This award recognizes employees who go above and beyond in their care, compassion and commitment to others.

“We know everyone makes a difference in our organization,” said Denise Bauer, FAIRHOPE President/CEO. “And, we want to recognize those who go above and beyond. Although Julie hasn’t been with us for very long, she consistently demonstrates compassion and commitment to others through her work.”

McGill started working at FAIRHOPE Hospice & Palliative Care because she had great interaction with the staff when a family member was in their care. When she’s not at work, McGill enjoys spending time with her family. She likes any candy or snacks with chocolate or peanut butter and enjoys pretzels.

FAIRHOPE Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. Offers Educational Program on Alternative Treatment Options

LANCASTER, Ohio (September 21, 2018) — FAIRHOPE Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. is offering an educational program called Alternative Treatment Options for Pain and Symptom Management. Participants can attend either Wednesday, November 7 OR Thursday, November 8 from 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Anita M. Turner Center. The same program will be offered on two days, so participants can pick the day that works best for their schedule.

This program will provide 6.25 continuing education hours for nurses, nursing home administrators, social workers and funeral home directors.  Participants will learn from experts on alternative treatment options for pain and symptom management including medical cannabis, massage therapy, aromatherapy, spirituality, guided imagery, therapeutic touch, pet therapy, chiropractic care and yoga.

LANCASTER, Ohio (September 20, 2018) — FAIRHOPE Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. will hold its Fall Family Grief Camp on Saturday, November 3 from 12:30-3:30 p.m. at the Anita M. Turner Center. This event is free, but registration is required. You can register at fairhopehospice.org or call Tracey Miller at 740-785-6546.

The Family Grief Camp is ideal for a child or family who has experienced the death of a special person and wants to learn ways to honor their memory.

FAIRHOPE Hospice & Palliative Care Received Grant from The Fairfield County Foundation

LANCASTER, Ohio (September 6, 2018)—FAIRHOPE Hospice & Palliative Care today announced it has received a grant from The Fairfield County Foundation from the Ward R. & Dorothy DeLancy Halteman Fund for a Stratus Video Interpreting program.

This program will allow for FAIRHOPE Hospice & Palliative Care to better communicate with deaf or non-English speaking patients and families. It includes two iPads, one for in patient use and one to travel with a nurse to onsite visits in homes, extended care or nursing facilities. Prior to receiving the grant, FAIRHOPE had to borrow an interpreting device from other healthcare organizations.

“This program will allow us to continue providing exceptional care to all patients,” said Denise Bauer, FAIRHOPE President/CEO. “We’ll be able to take the program into homes or utilize it at The Pickering House. It’s a critical need when the situation comes up and now we’ll be able to respond and communicate quicker.”

LANCASTER, Ohio (September 4, 2018)—FAIRHOPE Hospice & Palliative Care has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™ for accreditation by demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission’s national standards for health care quality and safety in home care. The accreditation award recognizes FAIRHOPE Hospice & Palliative Care’s dedication to continuous compliance with The Joint Commission’s state of the art standards.

FAIRHOPE Hospice & Palliative Care underwent a rigorous unannounced on-site survey in summer 2018. A team of Joint Commission expert surveyors evaluated FAIRHOPE for compliance with standards of care specific to the needs of patients, including infection prevention and control, leadership and medication management. The Joint Commission’s standards address the home care organization’s performance in specific areas, and specify requirements to ensure that patient care and services are provided in a safe manner.

Registration Still Available for Volunteer Training with FAIRHOPE Hospice & Palliative Care

LANCASTER, Ohio (August 31, 2018)—FAIRHOPE Hospice & Palliative Care encourages our community to experience the rewarding aspects volunteering can bring to your life. From caring for patients, working in the office, or spending  time helping with fundraising efforts, FAIRHOPE has an opportunity waiting for everyone.

“Volunteers are the heart of our organization, bringing joy, light and love to our patients, families and staff,” said Denise Bauer, FAIRHOPE President/CEO. “Whether you are able to volunteer one hour a week, once a month or from time to time, we hope you will consider joining our FAIRHOPE team.”

There is still time to register for the upcoming FAIRHOPE Hospice Volunteer Training Class.
