Hope is found in the hearts of many – and that statement couldn’t ring truer for the Cook brothers, Ernie and Eddie, who have compassionately supported FAIRHOPE for 18 years through the Egg Roll Poker Run. What started as an honorable way to commemorate their family members has grown into an annual customary tradition for their friends, for FAIRHOPE, and for the community.

Initiated by Ernie, and his late brother, Eddie – nicknamed “Egg Roll,” the poker run is comprised of several close friends that travel via motorcycle to different locations around Fairfield County to raise money through donations, raffles, and door prizes. Since Eddie’s passing in 2012, the Egg Roll Run has persisted in honor of his contributions and generosity to FAIRHOPE. The group has raised nearly $100,000 dollars since its inception, and this year is taking place on September 14.

In 2024, the Egg Roll Run received the Virginia L. Pickering Philanthropic Award for their charitable commitment to FAIRHOPE’s mission. We are continually inspired by the kindness of what the Cook brothers started, and delighted to see the growth each year brings with this tradition. It has made a tremendous impact on the lives we serve, while also forging new connections between community members who have shared experiences with FAIRHOPE; finding common ground in hope, peace, and celebrating life.
