FAIRHOPE Hospice & Palliative Care, Home of The Pickering House is seeking a Director of Quality & Regulatory Compliance to develop, implement and evaluate QAPI practices, procedures and standards. Ensures compliance with same.

We are looking for someone who has strong organizational and system skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize as necessary. Is compliant with internal and external regulatory standards including local and state health departments, Medicare, Medicaid, The Joint Commission, licensure and agency policies and procedures to assure readiness for survey inspections, both announced and unannounced.

This position is full-time position with flexible scheduling; typical hours are 8am – 4pm. Serves as Administrator On-Call (AOC) as scheduled. Must be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio. BSN required; MSN or equivalent years of experience and certification in healthcare related field preferred. Strong computer skills required.  Minimum three (3) years-experience in the healthcare setting.

What you’ll do:

  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the performance improvement programs of the organization. Reports quality assurance and performance improvement reports to President & CEO, staff and Board of Trustees on a scheduled basis.
  • Serves as Regulatory, Safety and Compliance Officer with adherence to The Joint Commission (TJC) regulations. Responsible for facilitating survey visits by all regulatory agencies.
  • Coordinates adherence to the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) regulations. Reports needs to President & CEO and Vice President.
  • Reads, understands and initiates practices into action to meet the requirements of the Hospice Conditions of Participation for Medicare, applicable accreditation standards, and state or other rules and regulations as applicable to the Hospice program.
  • Performs and coordinates Hospice Item Set (HIS) and Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) according to CMS regulatory guidelines. Assures Life Safety regulations are met in Fairhope campus buildings. Responsible for general oversight of facility maintenance and inpatient guest services, including dietary and housekeeping.
  • Oversees the maintenance of Fairhope policy and procedure manual, employee handbook, and orientation manual.
  • Responsible for oversight and continued development of Fairhope’s Emergency Operations Plan.
  • Conducts compliance investigations. Coordinates corrective actions and the development of the compliance training program and appropriate databases.
  • Participates in budgeting process and oversight of Quality & Regulatory Compliance, Education and Facility Services Maintenance departments’ financial status.
  • Administers, coordinates activities, and directly supervises managers of Quality & Regulatory Compliance, Education, and Facility Services Maintenance departments.
  • Assist in the development of organizational goals. Assist in the development, recommendation, and administration of organization policies and procedures.
  • Remain HIPAA compliant at all times.

We believe in a professional team approach and candidates must demonstrate great communication and social interaction skills, as well as, be a compassionate individual to work with other professionals and patients and families who face a vulnerable time in their lives.  The ability to analyze and implement proper action is essential.  Computer skills required.  Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing and must have a current RN license from the Ohio Board of Nursing.

This position is a full-time, four 10-hour shift (8p – 6a) position with variable days (every other weekend). Experience working with end of life care and/or healthcare setting preferred.

Our STNAs have a pivotal role in the hospice goals and daily care of our patients.  FAIRHOPE looks to its STNAs for hands-on care assistance following our individualized patient’s hospice plan of care. Our team of STNAs are caring individuals who offer extra TLC to our patients and support for families. Fostering the best possible experience for our hospice patients, their loved ones and caregivers.

We believe in a professional team approach and candidates must demonstrate great communication and social interaction skills, as well as, be a compassionate individual to work with other professionals and patients and families who face a vulnerable time in their lives.

Computer skills required. Candidates must have a current State Tested Nursing Assistant certificate through the Ohio Department of Health.

This STNA position is full-time, Monday through Friday, typically 8am – 4pm. Offering a generous shift differential. Experience working with end of life care and/or healthcare setting preferred.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide personal care and perform other housekeeping services as directed in the patient’s care plan in order to contribute to the health and well-being of the patient.
  • Give direct physical care to patients according to patient’s care plan.  This may include:
  • Complete or partial bed bath or shower.
  • Grooming activities: shampoo, hair care, shaving, mouth care, nail care.
  • Bathroom activities: use of bedpan, urinal, toilet, empty catheter collection bag, clean and apply external catheter, record intake and output of client, empty ostomy bag, replace ostomy bag as needed.
  • Skin care, reinforce/change non-sterile dressings as directed by nurse/supervisor.
    • Take and record T.P.R. and weight as directed by nurse/supervisor.
  • Active/passive ROM as directed by nurse/supervisor or PT.
    • Linen change, occupied or unoccupied bed.
  • Assist client in use of supportive equipment (cane, walker or wheelchair).
    • Deliver and assist with meal trays.
  • Notify nurse immediately of changes in client’s physical or mental condition. Report unusual complaints, accidents and emergency situations encountered to nurse and document same.
  • Document electronically any direct services provided and ongoing communication with patients, families and community providers.
  • Remain HIPAA compliant at all times.

FAIRHOPE Hospice & Palliative Care, Home of The Pickering House is seeking a Vice President to be responsible for general oversight of all clinical programs and operations, including education, facility maintenance and hospitality functions, according to policy and procedure. Lead and provide direction to the Leadership team to ensure clinical practice vision is in alignment with the organization’s strategic plan. We believe in a professional team approach to promote the philosophy of palliative and hospice care concept.

This position works in direct collaboration with the President & CEO and the Leadership team. Serves in the absence of President & CEO.

The qualified candidate must demonstrate strong communication and social interaction skills, as well as, be a compassionate individual to work with other professionals and patients and families who face a vulnerable time in their lives.  The ability to manage time efficiently. Candidate must be able to analyze and implement proper action is essential. Extensive computer skills required. Must be knowledgeable and proficient in Microsoft Office.

This position is full-time exempt (salaried). Requires Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in health care or related field preferred. Minimum three years’ experience in administration of health care agency or related health programs. Candidates with management experience in end-of-life care; hospice and palliative care preferred.

What you’ll do:

CORE FUNCTIONS

VICE PRESIDENT

  1. Administers, directs, and coordinates activities in clinical programs and operations. Provides general oversight to all agency programs and clinical teams.
  2. Assists in leadership and management training to clinical managers within the agency.
  3. In absence of President & CEO, serves as agency’s 2nd authorized representative to enter into and execute any and all contracts and/or leases on behalf of FAIRHOPE.
  4. Ensures agency standards, policies and procedures, and regulatory guidelines are consistently practiced.
  5. Assists the Director of Quality & Regulatory Compliance with oversight of the maintenance of the agency policy and procedure manuals, employee handbook, and orientation manuals.
  6. Directly oversees the Leadership and Director positions.
  7. Works directly with the Leadership team to develop and implement agency program to align with the strategic plan.
  8. Assists the President & CEO in strategic planning development and implementation.
  9. Works collaboratively with the Director of Finance with annual budget development and monthly variance review for responsible areas.
  10. Performs general oversight of changes proposed by committees regarding clinical, facility maintenance and inpatient guest services practices.
  11. Assists Director of Quality & Regulatory Compliance in developing and evaluating outcomes to improve services and practice. Works closely with the Director of Quality & Regulatory Compliance, QAPI Manager and FAIRHOPE Ethics Committee.

 Management/Leadership

  1. Serves as member of the organization’s Leadership team.
  2. Is flexible and available to clinical and customer service teams 24/7. Assigns appropriate designee when unavailable.
  3. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships, communication, problem resolution and networking with leadership/staff, other agency teams, and suppliers/vendors.

  9. Directly responsible for managing time and attendance (scheduling of staff), payroll and tracking benefit time of members of Leadership Team and assigned staff.
  10. Completes and administers performance evaluations prior to anniversary date for all assigned staff as appropriate.
